History Book Club
Held Live on Zoom, November 2020 – May 2021
History Book Club is going virtual this season! Join your fellow New-York Historical Members to delve into and discuss an array of fascinating books that bring together history, art, culture, and politics.
Each History Book Club session will feature a New-York Historical expert to introduce the book selection and initiate the discussion. Then you will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful and enlightening conversation with other Members. This program is an exciting way to participate in a series of casual yet thought-provoking forums.
Selections for 2020/21 include:
- Monday, November 23, 2020– Begin Again, James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons for Our Own by Eddie S. Glaude, Jr., featuring a special introduction and Q&A with the author; RSVP Here >>
- January – American Cuisine and How It Got That Way by Paul Freedman
- March – Princess of the Hither Isles, a Black Suffragist’s Story from the Jim Crow South by Adele Logan Alexander
- May – The Making of Asian America: A History by Erika Lee
Meetings take place on Mondays, 5:30–7 pm via Zoom.
